Terence was a cosmic wanderer, equal parts philosopher, psychonaut, & poet of the UNSEEN realms. His ideas anticipated the modern psychedelic renaissance We are witnessing today, where institutions like Johns Hopkins are researching psilocybin’s potential for treating Depression & PTSD.

The Archaic Revival
McKenna posited that modern society had drifted too far from ancient, plant-based spiritual traditions. He believed that a revival of these ancient practices, especially the ritual use of psychedelics, was essential for humanity’s survival.
DMT & The Machine Elves
McKenna was famously intrigued by his experiences with DMT, which he claimed transported Him to dimensions inhabited by bizarre, playful entities—beings He called “Machine Elves.” These encounters, he suggested, pointed to the possibility of parallel realities beyond human comprehension.
Timewave Zero Theory
In one of His more ambitious explorations, McKenna developed the idea that time follows a fractal pattern, constantly spiraling toward moments of increased novelty (newness & creativity). His calculations even led Him to predict that December 21, 2012, marked the culmination of this process—though His interpretations of what exactly would happen remained playful & open-ended.
Critique of Culture
McKenna was deeply critical of modern consumerism, seeing it as a dead end for human potential. He believed that psychedelics offered an antidote, capable of awakening individuals to the dreamlike nature of reality & inspiring them to live creatively & authentically.
Psilocybin as an Evolutionary Catalyst
His Stoned🦧Ape Hypothesis was a bold speculation, suggesting that early humans’ consumption of psilocybin may have enhanced cognitive abilities, contributing to the development of language, art, & self-awareness.

To many, Terence McKenna wasn’t just a thinker… He was a modern shaman guiding humanity toward a more imaginative, interconnected, & psychedelic future. That time We visited Terence’s home town Paonia, CO on His Birthday🎂(Nov. 16th) While visiting His grave… My offering was a Big’Ol B+ I grew.(I Should’ve waited until I cleaned up the site to take the picture). We smoked some DMT & The grave yard came alive❗️ & A Magic School Bus Airbnb❗️

On April 3, 2000, Terence McKenna departed from this realm, His life claimed by Glioblastoma Multiforme(GBM)… A merciless, fast-moving brain cancer. The tumor took root in His right frontal lobe, the seat of speech, motor control, & the faculties through which We impose Our will on the world. It was as if the very machinery that allowed Terence to articulate His wonderful wild visions & far-reaching ideas was the part that nature chose to unravel.
His diagnosis came in May of 1999, & despite medical intervention, the cancer advanced with unstoppable force, like a storm tearing through the delicate landscape of time. For those of Us immersed in the psychedelic community, His passing seemed steeped in symbolic weight. Terence, after all, was a Man who spent His life voyaging into the hidden dimensions of consciousness, exploring the fabric of existence & the mysteries of time.
Terence is definitely that pick for Me about that dinner guest question about if You could have dinner & conversation with anyone dead or alive. We would definitely eat some mushrooms I grew & chop it up & indulge Our Preponderance To Ponder.
There is a certain poetic irony in the way Terence’s journey ended. It’s as if His death was one final riddle, a profound reminder that no mind, no matter how expansive or luminous, is immune to the great unknown.
