🟣 Molecular Family Ties
At their core, both DMT & Psilocybin(Psilocin) are based on tryptamine, the same structure our bodies rely on for neurotransmitters like serotonin. DMT adds a couple of methyl groups to the mix, while psilocybin shows up with a phosphorus cap that gets cleaved off into psilocin once inside the body. Both molecules work as serotonin mimics, binding to receptors that shape not just how we feel, but how we see, hear, & think…shifting the filters We usually live behind.

Although these two substances take you to extraordinary places, the journey itself is where they part ways. DMT acts like a hyperspace jump. Fast, intense, & over before You can catch Your breath. When smoked or vaped, it takes off in seconds & lands You back in reality in 10-20 minutes, though what happens in between can feel like lifetimes. I’ve always found it ironic & just cool how We refer to a psychedelic journey as “Tripping” & the chemical responsible for it is called “Tryptamine”. This was not a clever scientist that was into psychedelics. It was completely separate & unrelated… but I’ve always thought it a good example of The Synchronicity of things.
INMT shows up in various parts of the body, meaning DMT production isn’t isolated… It’s like Our whole system has this quiet powerful potential just waiting for the recipe to be understood.
So when You think about DMT… Don’t just see it as some external substance that people chase for altered states. It’s already a part of the deeper architecture of life itself, embedded in how We process the mystery of existence, whether We’re conscious of it or not.

Two different chemical compounds that have some similarities & distinctions.
Here is a comparison of them:
🟣 While DMT stands for N, N-Dimethyltryptamine, 5-MeO-DMT stands for 5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyltryptamine.
They are both Tryptamine’s, which are substances that affect serotonin levels in the brain.
Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, appetite, sleep, & memory.
N,N-Dimethyltrypamine is what We produce within Ourselves endogenously.
🟣 When You hear the 3 letters DMT it’s almost always going to be referring to
N, N-Dimethyltryptamine
Unless specifically worded as 5-MeO-DMT
🟣 DMT is typically a more potent Psychedelic than 5-MeO-DMT. This means that it can produce stronger psychoactive effects at lower doses. DMT experiences are often said to include intense visuals, while 5-MeO-DMT produces more concentrated shifts in perception, often described as spiritual or mystical events that in their own way can be more profound.
🟣Both forms of DMT are found naturally in many plants & animals, & they can also be synthesized in a laboratory.

I always like to explain it like this… When smoking DMT it’s like You have some input or like dial 🎛️ controls to help set Your course.
So what I mean is there are a few things that determine the intensity & therefore the course of the journey. Not that You can “control” DMT but like a craft being journeyed in You can steer it.
🎛️ So just like taking a Dab hit of Cannabis… how hot You hit it makes a difference. I feel like the hotter I hit it, it can be slightly darker of an experience Vs. Hitting it at a lower temp.
🎛️ Then there is how long of pull or how much of an inhale You take in. The more You take in, You’ll have a correspondingly more intense experience.
🎛️ Then there is the factor of how long You can hold it in for. Again the longer You can hold it in, You’ll have a correspondingly greater intensity of an experience.
🎛️ Then some psychonauts add syrian rue to extend & increase their experience. If You wanna know more great details on that check out this info👇🏽 before trying… I honestly don’t see the need to try & increased the intensity of one of the most intense experiences in My life already❗️
So in this way; unlike other substances, at least psychedelics… You have some agency here & can exhibit some influence on Your experience other than simply how much of a dose You take.
